Just outside Die this is great for Sunday lunch after the market. Set in large grounds there's plenty of room for children to run round but watch out for the pond. Usually we are the only people which is a bit weird but it has around 30 tables.

Top, top favourite. The village of Saou is really pretty, set in a mountain gorge under the forest. Everything is beautifully presented.

This is under the huge cross up on the mountain. The chef apparently plays a barrel organ but not when we were there. Great views but the windows are so high up that you have to stand to see out (or sit outside).

Hidden right up in the mountains under a rock that looks like a pipe (apparently). If you go for lunch work up an appetite by going down to the waterfall (its an 800ft drop and half hour walk).They do rock concerts sometimes.
